Welcoming Our New Team Members (Q3 2026)

Our team continues to grow with engineers bringing fresh perspectives and diverse technical backgrounds to Pragmatic Professional Engineers. Our newest members have gained experience in areas ranging from energy efficiency and utility infrastructure to intelligent transportation systems, advanced manufacturing, and engineering research. We look forward to seeing how their knowledge, curiosity, and enthusiasm contribute to our projects and teams.

Please join us in welcoming Ismet, Ryan, Javier, and Raj!

Ismet Altintas - Mechanical Engineer

Ismet holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and is currently pursuing his master's degree at San José State University. Before beginning his graduate studies, he worked as an Estimating Engineer for a PG&E subcontractor, contributing to utility infrastructure projects.

During his master's program, Ismet joined the Industrial Assessment Center, a U.S. Department of Energy-funded initiative that provides energy assessments to small and medium-sized companies. Through this work, he gained experience in energy-saving calculations, energy audits, and technical report writing. He has also served as a Teaching Assistant for an advanced heat transfer course.

Outside of work and school, Ismet enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, and playing the violin.

Ryan Smith - Electrical Engineer

Ryan is a recent graduate of San José State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Before joining Pragmatic Professional Engineers, he interned with the California Department of Transportation as an Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer, where he helped update and maintain telecommunications equipment used to gather data about road and weather conditions.

At PPE, Ryan looks forward to applying his engineering knowledge and previous experience while continuing to learn about the AEC industry. He enjoys working as part of a team and is especially interested in gaining experience with large-scale engineering projects.

Outside of work, Ryan enjoys playing basketball, hiking, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family. He is excited to begin his professional career with Pragmatic PE.

Javier Lopez - Plumbing Engineer

Javier holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from San José State University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Florida State University. During his undergraduate studies, he contributed to a Lockheed Martin-sponsored senior design project focused on the F-35 program, which received Florida State University's Best Overall Senior Design Award in 2023.

His technical interests and experience include mechanical and HVAC system design, fluid mechanics, engineering calculations, and CAD and CFD simulation. Javier has also authored two engineering papers in 2026, one published through NoiseCon 2026 and another being published for the ASME IMECE 2026 Conference. His research includes an AI-to-CFD workflow for aerodynamic design.

Outside of work, Javier enjoys exploring motorsport, aerodynamics, and sustainability. He also enjoys hiking, learning new dance moves, and spending time with loved ones.

Raj Bedara - Plumbing Engineer

Raj is a recent graduate of Arizona State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before joining PPE, he gained hands-on research experience in thermal analysis for emerging 3D printing processes, where he designed and conducted Design of Experiments studies involving factors such as bed temperature, material quality, and print quality. He also served as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate Engineering Mechanics course.

During his undergraduate studies, Raj interned at L&T Heavy Engineering in India, where he contributed to projects in the defense sector and the development of pressure vessels for nuclear power plants. He is particularly interested in process engineering and continuous improvement, including Six Sigma initiatives.

Outside of work, Raj enjoys learning new skills and exploring the outdoors. He has taken up surfing, snowboarding, and violin, and also enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and traveling.

We're glad to have Ismet, Ryan, Javier, and Raj on the Pragmatic PE team and look forward to seeing their contributions as they grow in their careers with us.
