Fire Protection
Pragmatic Professional Engineers provides fire protection engineering for commercial, multifamily, public-safety, laboratory, education, industrial, and places-of-worship facilities. We develop fire sprinkler and, on select projects, fire alarm system designs for new construction, expansions, renovations, and specialized facility conditions.
Our published work has included wet-pipe, dry-pipe, ESFR, and antifreeze sprinkler systems; hydraulic and seismic calculations; sprinkler layouts; construction documents; shop drawings; fabrication lists; and permit submittals. We coordinate with project teams to help integrate fire protection systems with building, site, and other MEP requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions
What fire protection engineering services does PPE provide?
We provide fire sprinkler engineering and, on select projects, fire alarm system design. Our published project scope has included sprinkler layouts, hydraulic calculations, equipment schedules, construction documents, shop drawings, fabrication lists, and permit-submittal packages.
Does PPE design fire sprinkler systems for different facility types and conditions?
Yes. We have designed fire sprinkler systems for commercial warehouses, multifamily housing, schools, laboratories, historic places of worship, and public-safety facilities. Depending on project requirements, our work has included wet-pipe, dry-pipe, ESFR, and antifreeze sprinkler systems.
Can PPE support fire protection work for renovations and complex facilities?
Yes. Our published work includes a warehouse remodel and addition, a laboratory expansion, historic-building restoration, and facilities with cold-weather or firefighter-training requirements. We tailor fire protection documentation and coordination to the building conditions and project scope.
Does PPE provide fire alarm system design?
Our published portfolio includes fire alarm system design as part of industrial and integrated MEPF assignments. We can help determine whether fire alarm design, fire sprinkler design, or both are appropriate for a project’s scope.
